Views not growing: 5 causes and how to restart the algorithm
June 9, 2026·5 min read
The counter has shown 240 views since yesterday and will not move. Before you delete the clip, look at these five causes. Most are fixable.
1. The hook does not retain
If people scroll before the second second, the platform stops distributing. Check your retention on the first seconds: it is the number one cutoff.
2. You posted at the wrong time
The first sample comes from your close audience. If it is asleep, the sample is cold and the clip starts badly. Test different time slots over a week.
3. The clip never got initial momentum
Sometimes the content is good but the starting sample was too small to conclude anything. That is the classic case for young accounts. A natural-curve start can give the algorithm enough signal to widen the distribution.
4. You triggered a spam signal
Dubious hashtags, identical reposts, or worse, a spike-style panel view delivery. A sudden spike is a red flag that can freeze distribution instead of helping it. If you seed, do it as a spread-out climb, not a spike.
5. The niche is saturated that day
Sometimes it is not you. An over-covered topic the same day drowns your video. Reframe the angle or shift the publication.
The general rule
A stalling clip is not necessarily dead: it has not crossed the threshold that unlocks the next distribution batch. Your job is to give it every chance to cross it, at the right moment and with the right momentum. Restart a clip cleanly.
